German office designs healthy and sustainable city in China

The German architecture firm Peter Ruge, developed a project for City Green and Healthy for the province of Hainan, China. The idea has an inter-disciplinary and inter-cultural approach, in order to provide quality of life for the population while that rescues the country's history.
The project is divided into five districts. All of them must rely on medical infrastructure, clean production systems for energy and sustainable transport networks. To complement the structure, the architects kept the traits and respect for local history and identity.

As Told by ArchDaily, the entire urban area was planned to minimize the energy consumption and carbon footprint of the building. To ensure that 70% of energy from renewable sources, the project features wind turbines, photovoltaics, biogas and intelligent systems for the distribution of water and energy.

In terms of health, the medical center will be equipped and able to help patients throughout the clinical process, from prevention to making the final phase of rehabilitation. Residents will also have scheduled check-ups, specific care for the elderly and space for the development of medical research.

The facilities implemented in a city of the future include: easy access to electric buses, electric cars, utilities and rental bicycle loan, besides having vast rail network operated with zero emissions of greenhouse gases. All private vehicles powered by fossil fuels should be banned in the province.
